Scarlett Johansson is an American actor and singer born in NYC, the city of New York, on November 22nd in 1984. Her acting has earned the attention of a broad variety of genres, including period dramas as well as action and thrillers. Johansson grew up in New York City as the daughter of an architect, and also a production company. Hunter was her twin sister, was also born in New York City. When she was a child, she developed a passion for acting and began auditioning commercials at the age seven. She enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after, and later attended the Professional Children's School, Manhattan for further training. At the age of eight old, Johansson appeared alongside Ethan Hawke as Sophistry in an Off-Broadway musical. When she was nine she made her acting debut in Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson was later seen on screen in Just Cause (1995) but her debut came in Manny & Lo (1996) an upcoming film that follows siblings who are orphaned and run away. The film received praise for her performance as a teenage girl who had a life-threatening accident The Horse Whisperer (1998) and she gained further attention for her role as the cynical teenage outcast Rebecca on the set of Ghost World (2001). Like many actresses who are new have done, she decided to further develop her talent in theatre. She was involved in various USA productions, while also performing on stage in the company of Wildflower. She was a student at the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
